The author does a good job of showing the danger and uncertainty the characters were experiencing due to changing laws in Russia. Many times Evgeny and Sasha are their own worst enemies as they allow themselves to think badly of themselves, pulling them away from their friends.
It became clear early on that these two characters, who are fairly new Christians, have a lot of baggage that has the ability to make them doubt their worthiness. Unworthy is book two in the series and would probably make the most sense for those who have also read book one, Unknown, as there are a lot of characters whose friendships and backstories are established in book one.
It was nice to connect with the characters from the Grace Sufficient series once again.
